The organization of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival is pleased to present the official poster for its eighth edition, which will take place from April 13th to 20th, 2024, in the city of Benidorm. This year, the festival takes pride in revealing an exceptionally attractive design, the work of illustrator Adrià Ferrer Marquès, known as “El Marquès.”
The poster for this edition immerses itself in the essence of classic cinema, specifically the noir genre, through a blend of scenarios, genres, and iconic moments that evoke the rich universal cinematic memory. On this occasion, homage is paid to the film posters of the mid-20th century, with red and black tones prominently featured in this confessed tribute to classical cinema.
The author, known as El Marquès, shares his inspiration for the 2024 Skyline Benidorm Film Festival poster: “Being a big fan of classic posters, I drew inspiration from mid-century posters, especially from film noir. I wanted to depict various scenes and pay homage to different cinematic genres, also emphasizing the uncommon figure of the female filmmaker as the centerpiece of the poster.”
The design incorporates elements ranging from the leading man and the exaggerations of silent cinema to classic horror films, quinqui cinema and youth delinquency, and 1950s thrillers. The presence of architectural figures referencing Benidorm’s skyline and the old town is notable. Moreover, the central figure of the poster is an image of a female filmmaker, a bold statement seeking to reclaim and highlight women’s contribution to the world of cinema.
The Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, taking place in various locations in Benidorm, will offer a diverse program, including screenings of the official section, activities for the film industry, workshops for young people, and masterclasses.
The Festival also announces a prominent presence at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), where some important updates for this edition will be unveiled.
