Just one month away from its starting shot, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has today presented its program at the DAMA-Copyright headquarters. From April 13th to 20th, the city of Benidorm will become the epicenter of national and international short film.
The presentation has seen the participation of distinguished representatives from the world of cinema and culture.
Among them, the presence of Virginia Yagüe, president of DAMA, stands out, who shares with us that “From DAMA, we see this agreement as an endorsement of the trajectory of this festival. With it, we want to support professionals in this industry in those early stages of work, pushing emerging talent. We are certainly clear that there is alignment with the desires and objectives of DAMA, and we only hope that this relationship grows and matures.”
Likewise, Jaime Jesús Pérez, Councilor for Culture of the Benidorm City Council, highlights that Benidorm is a cinema-friendly city, and with the arrival of Skyline, celebrating its eighth edition this year, the city’s position as FILM FRIENDLY is strengthened, due to the impact this entails; it also values the growth of the festival each year, with increases in both participation and attendance and popularity.
On her part, Beatriz Hernández, festival director, indicates that “This year, we have put together an exceptional selection of short films that reflect the diversity and creativity of the film industry. We are committed to providing a platform for filmmakers, both emerging and established, to share their stories with the public. In addition, the agreement signed with DAMA signifies important support for creators, encouraging screenwriters to continue telling stories and fostering the professionalization of the industry.”

Celebrating Diversity and Creativity
With a consolidated trajectory, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has become one of the most relevant short film festivals in Spain, serving as a showcase for audiovisual industry professionals, both national and international, seeking recognition and promotion of their work. With a real parity policy in work teams and a focus on diversity, innovation, and professionalization of the sector, the festival stands out as an essential meeting point for the film community.
The festival’s official section, composed of 26 short films, covers a wide range of film genres and styles, divided into fiction, animation, and documentary competitions. These short films will not only have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes but will also be considered for qualification for the Goya Awards by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Parallel Sections and Special Activities
In addition to the official section, the festival presents two international sections that highlight the best of the Ibero-American and European short film panorama. Likewise, a special space has been reserved for young filmmakers, focusing on socially relevant works addressing themes such as gender equality and integration.
The festival also offers a wide range of complementary activities, including workshops, exhibitions, and colloquiums with industry professionals, aimed at fostering the exchange of ideas and the development of new talents.
Screenplay Contest and Collaboration with DAMA
In this edition, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has signed an agreement with DAMA, which will award a prize for the best short film screenplay with a cash prize of €1,500. From the 328 registered scripts, 15 finalists have been selected, whose talent will be recognized and celebrated during the festival.
With just one month to go before the start of the festival, expectations are high, and excitement is in the air.
