The Alicante Provincial Council has granted support to the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival through its 2025 Call for Grants for Foundations and Non-Profit Entities for Cultural Activities. This partnership reinforces the institution’s commitment to promoting culture and audiovisual arts in the Valencian Community.
The funding allows the festival to further strengthen its cultural programme and consolidate its role as a leading platform for short films in Spain. In its ninth edition, Skyline expanded its scope with new sections and professional activities, enhancing its national and international presence.
One of the key initiatives this year was PRISMA, a meeting point for the short film industry that brought together producers, distributors and emerging talent for pitching sessions, round tables and networking events. This initiative marked a significant step forward in the festival’s mission to create real opportunities for co-production and distribution.
“The support from the Provincial Council enables us not only to consolidate the festival’s growth, but also to keep innovating and deepening our connection with the local community,” says Beatriz Hernández, director of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival. “Our commitment to short films goes beyond exhibition: we want Benidorm to be a space where ideas are born, knowledge is shared, and alliances for the future of cinema are built.”
The festival also continued its focus on education and accessibility with workshops for young creators, inclusive screenings, filmmaker Q&As, and educational activities for schools in the province. These initiatives, along with a carefully curated selection of national and international short films, enriched the experience for both the general audience and film professionals.
The support from the Alicante Provincial Council is essential for cultural projects like Skyline to grow, diversify their impact, and continue connecting cinema, territory and community.
