The design of the poster for the seventh edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, which will be held from March 25 to April 1, treasures references to David Lynch and Dziga Vértov in its composition.
For yet another year, from this Marina Baixa short film festival, they wanted to have a different artist, in this case Barbara Camacho, a graduate in Fine Arts, illustrator and graphic designer, with a very personal style.
What are we going to find in this image?
In the words of its creator in this poster “The deity of the woman is sought and drifting through pictorial art we find a symbology in which the woman is represented resurfacing from a shell. We find a duality between the deity and the sea. The sea is present in the city of Benidorm”.
She highlights the female figure, giving it the prominence it deserves in the film industry.
We will also find, sailing on a fish, a paper boat, which represents the fragility to which the world of cinema is subjected.
The artist, through her evocation of movement, takes us to the constant change of both the cinema and the city of Benidorm, linked in turn to the seventh art, since in the center of the illustration we find the viewfinder of the camera created with the skyscrapers.
Beatriz Hernández, director of Skyline Benidorm Film Festival comments that “This new image of the festival has been carefully designed to reflect the most emblematic and significant aspects of the city of Benidorm, its film history and the impressive view of the coast and of course its skyline, which gives its name to our festival. By incorporating these elements into the new look, we want the festival to convey its sense of authenticity and belonging to its place of origin, as well as a focus on the quality and prestige of cinema.”
It will be interesting to see how this new image impacts perception and participation in the festival and how it helps to strengthen its visual identity.
Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will be held in Benidorm from March 25 to April 1, 2023. In addition, a selection of its programming can be enjoyed through the VOD Filmin platform for those who cannot travel to this city in the Marina Baixa in the festival dates.
