Skyline Benidorm Film Festival announces the opening of registrations for its ninth edition, which will take place from March 29 to April 5, 2025. Established as a benchmark in the film scene, the festival continues to support short films, emerging talent, innovation, and internationalization.

This year, Skyline announces two major novelties. On the one hand, the prize money in the national official section has been increased to €1,000 each, in addition to the selection payment that has been in place since its inception, recognizing the effort and creativity of the participating filmmakers. On the other hand, the European section expands to an international level, allowing short films from around the world to participate, making Benidorm a global epicenter of short films.

Starting September 18, interested filmmakers can submit their short films through the platforms Festhome, Movibeta, and Filmfreeway, making the participation process easier from anywhere in the world. In the coming weeks, registrations will also open for the scriptwriting contest and shortpitch, offering more opportunities for creators in different areas.

Beatriz Hernández, the festival’s director, expressed her excitement about this new edition: “We are very excited about this ninth edition. The team is working hard to once again make short films shine. Our goal is to continue driving the professionalization of the industry, offering a space where creators not only showcase their works but also have a networking space to create synergies and generate new projects. Each year we strive to create an unforgettable experience for both the audience and the filmmakers who participate.

Since its inception in 2017 as a film showcase, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has grown steadily. In 2022, it reached a significant milestone by becoming a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards, a distinction that positions it as one of the must-attend events for filmmakers wishing to showcase their work on the national and international stage. Moreover, for several months now, the ICAA has included Skyline as a scoring festival for the grants awarded annually by the Ministry.

Throughout its eight editions, the festival has served as a springboard for emerging filmmakers, highlighting its commitment to young talent and the promotion of creativity, as well as established filmmakers. This event, held in the Marina Baixa, has become a key meeting point for the film industry, offering a space where the best short films produced each year are rewarded and showcased.

A festival in constant evolution
The Skyline Benidorm Film Festival is known for its focus on diversity and innovation. Year after year, it introduces new sections and activities that enrich the experience of both participants and attendees, establishing itself as a must-attend event on the international film calendar.
