Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has officially begun preparations for its next edition. Following the celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2026, the festival will return from 10 to 17 April 2027 with an 11th edition that will build on the remarkable growth achieved over the past decade.

In just ten years, Skyline has established itself as one of Spain’s leading short film festivals. It is currently a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards, the Forqué Awards and the Ibershorts Awards of the Málaga Film Festival, distinctions reserved for festivals recognised for the quality of their programming and their relevance within the film industry.

“Reaching our tenth edition was a major milestone, but it is also the starting point for continuing to grow,” says Beatriz Hernández, Festival Director. “Skyline has developed its own identity through a clear commitment to short films, emerging talent and creating meaningful opportunities for the audiovisual industry.”

This philosophy is reflected in several initiatives that have made the festival a benchmark within the sector. Skyline continues to offer screening fees for films selected in the National Official Section, recognising the work of the selected filmmaking teams. The festival also hosts the PRISMA Industry Days and the International Co-production Meeting, both designed to foster networking among film professionals and encourage new collaborations.

These initiatives are complemented by the Shortpitch competition, which supports short film projects in development by connecting filmmakers with production companies and audiovisual industry partners; the DAMA Screenwriting Competition, now recognised as one of the most prestigious in Spain; and Skyline 365, the festival’s major educational initiative aimed at building new young audiences. This programme will expand throughout the entire year in the upcoming edition.

“We believe a film festival should do much more than simply screen films. We want to support filmmakers at different stages of their careers and create real opportunities for their projects to move forward. That will remain one of Skyline’s defining pillars as we prepare for next April’s edition,” Hernández adds.

Over the past decade, Skyline has brought together established filmmakers and emerging talent in Benidorm, becoming an important meeting point for both industry professionals and audiences. The most recent edition once again demonstrated the festival’s strong momentum, featuring some of the year’s most acclaimed short films, consistently high audience attendance and an increasingly significant presence of audiovisual industry professionals.

The 2027 edition will once again feature its four Official Sections — National, International, Ibero-American and Young Filmmakers — transforming Benidorm into a showcase for the finest contemporary short films.

With the dates now confirmed, Skyline Benidorm Film Festival begins the countdown to its 11th edition. The organisation is already working on a new programme that will once again bring together filmmakers, industry professionals and audiences in Benidorm, while unveiling the first announcements and new developments over the coming weeks as the festival continues to strengthen its position as one of Spain’s leading short film events.
