Next Tuesday, March 29, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will be presented at the Madrid Film Academy.
This short format film festival will exhibit in Benidorm, from April 2 to 9, a great selection of Spanish, European and Latin American short films.
Skyline Benidorm Film Festival is one of the few Spanish festivals that has implemented payment for selection since its first edition. In addition, all the filmmakers of the official national section are invited during the days of the festival, enjoying guided tours of Benidorm, excursions and different meetings and colloquiums where both the promotion of the city and an atmosphere of exchange of ideas between professionals are encouraged.
Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has gone from being a provincial sample to having an official national section, with three different prizes for Fiction, Documentary and Animation, in addition to a European section and adds a new Ibero-American section in this 2022 edition. Each of these sections have their corresponding prizes and always with projections in cinema quality.
This festival celebrates its 6th Edition breaking, once again, participation records, with more than 450 short films presented, and 260 projects, including scripts and shortpitch.
Likewise, and steadily, the short film script writing contest has become a benchmark, receiving more than 200 works from all over Spain and Latin America in this edition, in response to the attractive prize that has not stopped increasing in each edition, reaching €1,000 this year.
Another bet that has come to stay is the Shortpitch, an event dedicated to the film industry, in which producers with projects in the development phase participate. The winner will receive a prize valued at €12,000 to make their short film, with the collaboration of different providers.
In this edition we continue to count on the collaboration of Filmin, where the short films of the National Section will be screened from April 2 to 9, so that anyone who is outside the city can enjoy part of the programming.
The poster
The design of this year’s poster has been carried out by the graphic artist Nuria Riaza, with a disturbing and surreal touch, her works always have a mysterious point. In this case, the main image of the poster for the 2022 edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival is a portrait of the Spanish filmmaker Ana Mariscal, considered by critics to be one of the best European film directors of the 20th century. A pioneer who signed her own scripts and brought them to the screen as a director. She was also a noted film and stage actress, and an award-winning writer.
